The SCALE Fellowship program was designed to advance and support Black women in the music industry. SCALE offers a comprehensive curriculum that builds entrepreneurial acumen and music industry knowledge, along with the tools, resources, and community to support artists in enhancing their artistic practice and building their careers. Through a series of workshops, individual mentoring sessions, and strategic planning, fellows identify goals, develop strategies, build industry knowledge, and connect with experts in the field.
The SCALE Fellowship intends to:
- Create an affirmative space for Black women musicians to connect, learn, grow, and collaborate
- Invest significantly in Black women musicians
- Increase the quality of work output by Black women musicians
- Provide a platform to showcase Black women musicians
- Enhance the entrepreneurial skill set and business acumen of Black women musicians
- Establish a more connected creative entrepreneur community
- Contribute to the development of an inclusive and elevating local music ecosystem
The SCALE Fellowship was designed by Black women in music for Black women in music. Our team includes musicians, researchers, program design experts, facilitators, and industry professionals who came together with a mission to create an experience that would not only elevate Black women in music but also provide a safe community where we can gather, connect, and collaborate.
Through collaboration of multiple partners, we developed a comprehensive program that provides both immediate and ongoing support to the artists, along with opportunities for growth and advancement. Our collective understands the importance and necessity of cross-sector, multi-layered collaboration from individuals with both expertise and lived experience, including:
- working artists & musicians that have a national and global platform
- creative industry professional service providers
- experts with proven success in designing and implementing programs that support artist entrepreneurs
- producers & engineers
- Grammy award-winning songwriters
- artist development experts
